The Albertina in Vienna houses one of the world’s largest collections of drawings, prints, and artworks created on, and especially with, paper. In 2026, the museum celebrates its 250th aniversary – an ideal occasion to dedicate a major exhibition to this rich treasure trove of 600 years of art history.
The aim of the accompanying publication is to do justice to the diverse approaches and strategies of the artists. This required not only perfectly reproduction and describtion of the works, but also making them "tangible" within the book. This was achieved through a multitude of technical innovations: from paper changes, embossing, die-cutting, folding, and laser cuts to movable elements. A challenge pushing the boundaris of what ist technically feasible.
